The new sign and print materials have all arrived. After many weeks agonizing over which shade of turquoise had the most joie de vivre, we went with copper and charcoal for the sign. It looks very nice against the building. Fear not, turquoise will make its appearance on the picnic ham (and so it all begins again). Tipple & Ramble is as always most appreciative of the efforts of Senorita Jamon at Print it Pretty Studio in San Francisco. They really seem to understand what you mean when you say the font needs to suggest more movement. On to next design project...
Every Sunday from 9-1pm is the Ojai Famers Market. It's right around the corner from Tipple &Ramble --so close that I can practically be there and back before the coffee is finished brewing; it's like sleep shopping. This is a must stop if you are in Ojai for the weekend. The produce here is tip top quality. I don't even like carrots because they're one of the few vegetables you can't fry, but the carrots here are like candy. A definite must buy. They also have coffee, bread, eggs, meat, and cheese. If you plan well you can buy most everything you need for the week. Or just have friends over and eat it all that day.
Most Sunday mornings I feel a lot like these apples look. But what a deal!
I usually pick up some Birds of Paradise and a varietal of kale. One always needs at least one bunch of kale in the fridge, so that first thing Monday morning you can start ignoring it immediately.
Today I came across these magical fruits called "cocktail grapefruits" aka Mandelos. They aren't actually grapefruits but instead a cross between Mandarin, Tangerine, and Pommelo. Unfortunately, you don't see these little jewels too often because they're delicate fleurs and don't ship well. But if you do come across them in your Southern California travels, be sure to pick up as many as you can carry.
Mandelo Sunday Morning Spritzers:
Juice of 3 Mandelos
3 oz of vodka
6 oz of sparkling water
Serves 2
3 ingredients--that's it! Call it a day! Everyday should be so easy.
